The rabbinical court in Haifa recently heard the issue of a woman's ketubah claim against her husband after it was discovered that he had betrayed her. The woman demanded her full address, which was for an imaginary sum of one million shekels.

For his part, the man claimed that the woman planned to get married in order to extort money from him. "She lied and claimed she got pregnant, and then planned how to get a divorce and extort money from me," he said. He also claimed that she left the apartment without warning, and in order to win the written claim, the woman approached an acquaintance of her friend named L. and persuaded her to seduce the man.

On the other hand, the woman claimed that the man treated her violently during the marriage, and she did not leave the apartment, but was thrown out of the house by the husband with her young daughter in her arms, without minimal objects. "The husband prevented her from entering the apartment and even changed the lock on the house," her lawyer claimed. The woman denied any connection with L. She said they met at a mutual friend's wedding and never contacted her.

The judges reached the unequivocal conclusion that the husband had indeed betrayed his wife. "At the court hearing, it was proved that the man spent a weekend with his mistress H. at the Noma Hotel. A perusal of the transcript of the hearing will show how the man claims that he did not leave his father's sickbed, and his brother, who represented him, backs up the statements, which were proven to be false by an investigative report. The relationship with Mrs. H. began with messages on June 21, and continued to the point of spending a weekend together at a hotel, as mentioned above.

"While the man is married and while he is addressing the woman in an attempt at domestic peace, the man is trying to contact Mrs. N. The woman presented her correspondence with N., in which N. says that the man introduces himself as divorced and tries to meet her, even though he is still married. Mrs. N. attached her correspondence with the husband, in which he replies that he is divorced," the ruling said.

At the same time, the judges decided that the sum of one million shekels was excessive. The court ruled that the wife was entitled to her address, but since the sum was excessive, it ordered the husband to pay her 520,000 shekels.
