Eritrean workers in Eilat did not show up for work Monday morning after receiving death threats and the lives of their family members. According to them, Eritrean regime supporters living in Eilat waited for them this morning at bus stops around the city and threatened their lives. They demanded that they join the strike, otherwise they would be murdered.
The employers of the Eritreans who were threatened told Israel Hayom that the workers contacted them and sounded very frightened: "I have many workers who live in different parts of Eilat and none of them came to work. They said they waited for them at bus and bus stops and threatened that if they didn't go on strike and go to work, they and their children would be murdered. It's a scary situation, you have to have someone intervene," says one employer.

In a letter sent this morning to their employers in Eilat, the workers asked for their help and the intervention of the Israel Police: "After the incident in south Tel Aviv, we are constantly threatened. Regime supporters are constantly threatening us. They have declared that Israel is their territory and are working to take away the freedom of expression that the State of Israel grants us.
"Many in the community feel that their freedom to protest against oppression and persecution in our country is being taken away, we feel insecure and in real danger to come to work," they wrote, "One day we will simply be murdered on the way home from work. I ask my workplace to demand that the Israeli government protect us from the persecutors who support the regime."
