The traditional "Priestly Blessing" event at the Western Wall on the occasion of Chol Hamoed Sukkot takes place this morning (Monday), with tens of thousands of participants.
The event, broadcast live on Israel Hayom, was attended by the two chief rabbis, Rabbi David Lau and Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef, Western Wall Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz and Mayor Moshe Leon.
The prayer will include two priestly blessing events. The beginning of the prayer will be at 8:45 a.m. and the first priestly blessing will be at approximately 9:30 a.m., followed by the supplement prayer at 9:15 a.m. and the second priestly blessing at 10:30 a.m.
In order to enable the masses to reach the ceremony, another event of blessing of the priests will take place this Wednesday, also attended by tens of thousands of worshippers. The Western Wall Heritage Foundation urges the public to attend only one event, on Monday or Wednesday, in order to avoid overcrowding. Also, the entrances to the Old City and the Western Wall may be closed in case of congestion.
