British singer Liam Payne (a One Direction graduate) was caught driving at 45 km/h in an area where the speed limit is 30 km/h and is now facing the suspension of his driver's license.
Payne, 30, was caught last February by an automatic speed camera driving over the legal speed limit in his luxury Ford Ranger (estimated to be worth over $42,<>) on an overpass on the motorway in Hammersmith (west London).
Court documents show Payne, who is expected to be sentenced next week, faces a six-month suspension of his licence, British website Evening Standard reported.
In his submission to the court, Payne claimed that he did not understand that this was the speed limit on the road and apologized for driving above the legal speed limit. He added that he was willing to pay any fine imposed on him.
The incident joins a string of problems the British singer has had to deal with in recent months. In September, Payne was rushed to the hospital where he was admitted with severe kidney inflammation that forced him to cancel his tour. Last July, he revealed that he also struggles with mental health issues including manic incidents and difficulty maintaining sobbing in low moments.
