Explosive hunger strike: The Palestinian prisoners' organizations announced that the administrative detainees held in Israeli jails would begin a hunger strike tomorrow (Wednesday) for a day.

The move was intended to show support for the Palestinian detainee, Kaid Mispas, who has been on hunger strike for more than two months to protest his administrative detention.

"In light of our sad experience on the issue of Khader Adnan [a senior Islamic Jihad figure in the West Bank who died in prison after 86 days of hunger strike], the movement of prisoners in all prisons will not sit idly by, and will not allow under any circumstances that what happened with the heroic Martyr Adnan will be repeated," they wrote in a statement. They also warned Israel and its security agencies against "harming the life of the prisoner missed," and held Israel fully responsible for his well-being.

Khader Adnan, a senior Islamic Jihad official, was found dead in his cell in May 2023 on the 86th day of his successive hunger strike. After 'Adnan's death, three rockets were fired from the Gaza Strip at southern Israeli communities and fell in open areas. In response, the security forces attacked the Gaza Strip and instructed residents of the area to remain near protected areas, fearing that the area would heat up.

62-day hunger strike

Kaid Fasfous, a 34-year-old released prisoner from the town of Dura south of Hebron, has been on hunger strike for 62 consecutive days.
Physicians for Human Rights appealed to the Israel Prison Service and the Ministry of Health to transfer Miss to a civilian hospital for observation. According to the association, he was taken from Shikma Prison to Shamir Hospital last month but released a short time later, apparently due to his refusal to be examined, and is currently being held at an IPS medical center.

"The IPS medical center lacks appropriate conditions for providing emergency medical assistance in case of sudden deterioration. Refusal to perform tests cannot be a reason for not being admitted to hospital," the letter stated.

"Adnan's death left no room for doubt regarding the obligation to hold hunger strikers at advanced stages only in a medical institution that has the ability to intervene to save lives when necessary. Unfortunately, it seems that the responsible parties have not learned the lesson from the Adnan case and are repeating the same mistakes."

Fasfous was imprisoned in Israel for seven years, and had gone on hunger strikes several times in the past. Four of his brothers were detained in Israel, and another brother was wanted and wounded by Israeli security forces about a year ago, Fasfous' mother said, noting that his health had deteriorated.
