Ramle police officers and detectives, together with Border Police soldiers, COGAT, and the Central District canine unit, carried out increased operational enforcement during the day in the city's Jawarish neighborhood, as part of the Israel Police's struggle against the illegal use and possession of weapons by criminal and other elements.

During the raid, the officers noticed the suspect fleeing from them and after a foot chase arrested a 15-year-old minor. When his body was searched, a loaded gun was discovered.

At the end of his interrogation, the matter of his continued detention will be decided in accordance with the findings of the investigation, along with transferring the gun to the forensic laboratories for evidence extraction.

Central District Commander Major General Avi Biton emphasized to the police officers and commanders, who conduct determined and professional enforcement on the Arab street for the safety of the residents, that operational vigilance on the ground must meet the highest standards.

"In light of the increasing danger posed by criminal elements, when only in recent days we dealt with shooting at police officers in the heart of a residential neighborhood in Jawarish, we seized weapons and IEDs in the hands of crime families, including a gun in the possession of a minor, we arrested many suspects who were behind bars and even seized 15 Molotov cocktails ready to be thrown this morning."

Commissioner Bitton added: "We will continue with full force to fearlessly enforce and resolutely neutralize any threat that endangers our police officers and the entire public."

Recall that earlier this week, a 25-year-old criminal known to the police was murdered in a shooting on Olei Gallows Street in Ashkelon. The police opened an investigation and detained two suspects suspected of involvement in the murder of the young man, who had previously served time in prison. He was released two weeks ago from eight days in custody for an incident of violence and did not belong to any criminal organization.

Yesterday, a 37-year-old man was killed and a 33-year-old man was moderately injured in a vehicle explosion between Highways 7 and 3, near Moshav Hatzev in the Shfela.

The two men were apparently targeted by members of the Jarushi family who detonated the bomb planted in the car, while the police tried to arrest the two suspects and shot a 25-year-old man who was critically wounded, and a 40-year-old man who was moderately wounded. The young man was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
