Due to the security situation: Many workers from the Arab and Jewish sectors did not come to work at the branches of the food chains today, which affects activity in the branches and online deliveries. In addition, the malls are currently operating in an emergency format.

The supermarket chains reported this morning that workers did not come to work, and in light of the shortage of workers, the chains' managers are asking the public to show patience and understanding from the situation created by the shortage of workers.

A source in the food chain industry told Israel Hayom, "In terms of manpower in our branches, there is no problem. Online there is a shortage of workers. In the meantime, online bookings are working, but unequivocally there are likely to be disruptions. In addition, there are difficulties for suppliers to deliver as usual. Some of the suppliers announced that they had difficulty getting south from Ashdod."
Another source said, "There is a lot of difficulty because of many workers who didn't show up for work. Some online outlets are shut down because of staff shortages."

A customer who arrived at one of the branches in central Israel said, "I was on this morning and there are only self-service checkouts, which creates heavy loads."
Rami Levy is calling on the Israeli public to join the workforce in the supermarket chains and opened a special employee absorption track this morning in order to restore full activity at the chains' branches.

For example, Rami Levy Shivuk Hashikma published an ad along the following lines: "Appeal to the public! The Rami Levy chain is an essential enterprise for times of emergency. We want to provide service to the citizens of Israel and ensure their food security. We cannot do this without employees. Come help us enable the residents of Israel throughout the country to stock up on food. We need employees/volunteers. The managers should be contacted at the chain's branches. Our strength is in our unity."

"Missing staff"

Rami Levy told Israel Hayom, "We are short of 2,000 workers. Many workers were drafted into the army, and there are also many parents who stayed at home with their children. I ask anyone who can work or wants to volunteer to come work for us. We are in a time of emergency and we need to take care of the food security of the citizens of the State of Israel."

Levy said, "A lot of workers didn't come to work today. All our branches are open except Sderot, so we have a shortage of employees." Asked whether workers from the Arab sector came to work today, Levy replied: "Some of the workers from the sector did come, but the workers who didn't come are mainly workers who were drafted into the army and mothers who stayed with their children.
There is no tension between employees. Everyone who comes to work cooperates and identifies with each other. We have no tension and everyone is united."

Regarding the disruptions, Levy says, "There is currently a disruption on online because of online pressure. That's almost twice as many bookings as on a normal day. In branches begins to be congestion.
At the moment there is no shortage yet and we are trying not to have a shortage. We ask those who need to release the goods, especially from the port, to do everything possible to release the goods. We ask the Health Ministry, the Agriculture Ministry and the Economy Ministry to cooperate and do everything possible to release the goods. We are an emergency economy. During this period, they have to prove themselves."

Asked whether there were suppliers who announced that they could not supply to the south, Levy replied, "No one said they couldn't come to the south. Whoever arrives arrives under the guidance of the Home Front Command. For example, if suppliers are not allowed to come to Sderot, they don't come. In Sderot they wouldn't let us open. We are in contact with the Home Front Command. We are an emergency economy and will serve all the people of Israel. I call on all the people of Israel not to buy hysterically and to buy only what is necessary, in order to leave goods for others. We are in contact with suppliers and have increased imports. As I said, I ask the Ministry of Health, Agriculture and Economy to prove themselves and help us release goods such as vegetables and fruits and meat. Let them not make it as difficult for us as they have all year round. To help us in times of emergency to provide food security to the people of Israel."
