The Scottish leader's wife, Nadia El-Nakla, is of Palestinian descent and her parents, who live in Scotland, were visiting Gaza to see her 92-year-old paternal grandmother when Hamas carried out an unprecedented attack on Israeli soil.
No safe passage

We can't sleep, we're glued to our phones," Yousaf told reporters. "I'm worried about my family." "Despite the efforts made by the British Foreign Office, no one can guarantee them safe passage anywhere," he said, as the Israeli army ordered a full siege of the Gaza Strip.

Night after night, day after day, we don't know if my mother-in-law and father-in-law, who like most Gazans have nothing to do with Hamas or any terror attack, will make it through the night or not," said the Scottish leader, who condemned Hamas for its offensive.
