Thousands arrived yesterday (Tuesday) at the Petah Tikva Gate in the Yarkon cemetery to accompany Bruna Valano, who was murdered in the massacre at a party in Reim, on her final journey.
Only Bruna's mother and sister live in Israel, so there was concern that no minyan would be found. Many thousands answered the call to come to the site and pay their last respects.
Heavy traffic congestion was created on the main roads leading to the cemeteries, and the access road to the site was blocked. Many vehicles parked on the main arteries and walked hundreds of meters to reach the site.
The escorts stood out in a show of unity of religious, secular and ultra-Orthodox.
"I wish politicians had such unity," said a 50-year-old man who came from Ganei Tikva. A woman who came from Petah Tikva said: "There was a call to come, I left everything and came. It's the least I can do for her. We are all one people."
