"This week I visited Kibbutz Be'eri, built by Holocaust survivors who worked the land and built a wonderful community. I went from house to house, saw the bodies of our pioneers, Holocaust survivors, who were burned alive. Children were tied up and shot in the head, our soldiers were beheaded."
He added: "We have been dealt a heavy blow, but make no mistake: 2023 is not 1943. We are the same Jews, but we have different abilities. The State of Israel is strong and united.

"These days, our air force is destroying Hamas headquarters, bombing the terror infrastructure and destroying the weapons factories. This is a war for our future in the Middle East, we will change the security reality and Hamas will not exist."
The defense minister concluded: "We will reach the last perpetrator and planner of the massacre - every person who has the blood of our children on his hands. It will be a long and difficult war, but the State of Israel will win. I thank you all for the expressions of solidarity, clear statements and conversations I continue to receive from my colleagues. It's not just our war, it's a war for freedom, it's a war for values."
