US Secretary of State Antony Blinken will arrive on Thursday for a visit in solidarity with Israel. Blinken is expected to meet with Israeli President Isaac Herzog, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other senior officials, as well as hold a media briefing. Besides him, other senior American officials are expected to arrive in Israel later.

A diplomatic source said ahead of the visit that the American administration completely sided with Israel and that even in the closed talks there was no restriction or expectation that Israel would restrain itself in the face of Hamas' brutal attack.

"Support is strong and unconditional and without any red lines. One hundred out of a hundred members of the Senate expressed support for Israel, and even in the House of Representatives the identification is almost one hundred percent," the diplomatic source said.
He added that even in American public opinion, support for Israel is almost absolute, and that the comparison between ISIS and Hamas is widely accepted. "The comparison stemmed from horrific scenes reminiscent of those of ISIS, but it doesn't say what the objectives of the operation will necessarily be."
