Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met Friday with U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin at the Tel Aviv campus.
At the start of their meeting, Netanyahu said: "I am very happy to see you today. I very much appreciate the determined stance that the President, you the Secretary, the American people and the American administration have expressed.
Hamas is ISIS. What you said, and what the president said, in many ways Hamas is worse than ISIS. Just as the civilized world united to fight ISIS, the civilized world must unite to help us fight Hamas. I know you stand with us and we appreciate that very much."
U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin responded: "We are with you, Mr. Prime Minister. As the President said, you have our back. Had a terrible week. We have seen the horrific acts of this terrorist organization.
As you know, I was the one who first planned the war against ISIS. So I know ISIS well, and it's worse than what I've seen with ISIS."
Participating in the meeting from the Israeli side are Defense Minister Yoav Galant, Minister of Strategic Affairs Ron Dermer, National Security Council Chief Tzachi Hanegbi and Prime Minister Avi Gil's Military Secretary, and from the American side: Chief of Staff to Secretary of Defense Kelly Magsman, Military Secretary Roland Clark and Acting US Ambassador to Israel Stephanie Hallett.
