The star posted two stories tonight asking for compassion and fundraising for both sides. The move surprised many of his followers, after just Wednesday he published a powerful post: "Saturday saw the largest mass murder of Jews since the Holocaust. After Jennifer Aniston shared a fundraiser for Israelis and Gazans alike on her story over the weekend and received an almost unprecedented attack from Jewish and Israeli web surfers calling for a boycott, "Friends" star David Schwimmer, who has supported Israel in a number of stories and posts at the start of the fighting, posted two stories Sunday evening that, like Aniston, sought compassion and fundraising for both sides.

"If we have a moral obligation to Israeli children, then we owe the same moral obligation to Palestinian children. Their lives carry the same weight. If you care about human life only in Israel or only in Gaza, then you don't really care about human life," Schwimmer shared with his 6.6 million Instagram followers a post containing a paragraph from a New York Times op-ed by Nicholas Kristoff, the Pulitzer Prize-winning commentator and journalist who specializes in human rights and diplomacy issues.

In another story, Schwimmer shared a screenshot that read, "Help, humanitarian aid is needed now," which included links to donations to several organizations, including the Fund for Aid to Palestinian Children, along with a link to Magen David Adom.

As mentioned, the stories Schwimmer shared surprised many of his followers, after only last Wednesday he published a powerful and poignant post in which he wrote: "Saturday was the largest mass murder of Jews since the Holocaust. The rape, torture, kidnapping and killing of so many Israeli civilians, including children, the elderly and babies, is an atrocity. Any attempt to rationalize or justify this genocide, let alone celebrate it, is unjustifiable and anti-Semitic."
