Food courts overseas are also mobilizing for the security forces in Israel during the war. Israeli-American chef Michael Solomonov – owner of four restaurants and food chains in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania – donated all their income last Thursday to United Hatzalah in Israel.

The restaurants that participated in the fundraising day are Israeli Zahav, the falafel chain Goldie, the steakhouse Laser Wolf and the K'far Cafe.

All culinary institutions are actually part of the award-winning Cooknsolo Group in the Philadelphia area, which Solomonov runs together with his partner, businessman Steve Cook. The two announced the day of the fundraiser in a moving Instagram message, which Solomonov concluded with the cry "Am Yisrael Chai."

Michael Solomonov was born in Moshav Ganei Yehuda in 1978. He moved with his family to the United States as a child and grew up in Pittsburgh, but returned to Israel at the age of 18. He returned to the United States to study culinary in Florida, eventually settling in Philadelphia.

Zahav, the main restaurant of the Cooknsolo Group, was opened by Solomonov and Cook in 2008. In 2011, Solomonov won the "Best Chef in the Mid-Atlantic Region" award from the nonprofit culinary organization James Beard, while his Israeli cookbook, Zahav: A World of Israeli Cooking, was named "Cookbook of the Year" by the organization in 2016. In 2017, Solomonov was named "Best Chef" by the James Beard Organization, while Laser Wolf was named to The New York Times' list of the 50 favorite restaurants in 2021.

Michael's brother, Staff Sgt. David Solomonov, was killed on the Lebanese border in 2003 during combat.
