Highlights: Lower than forecasts: The Consumer Price Index declined by 0.1 percent, inflation continues to moderate. Notable price declines were recorded in the Transportation, Food and Culture and Entertainment components. In contrast, there were notable price increases in fresh fruits and vegetables, educational services, rent, furniture and household equipment, clothing and footwear, and health. The increase in home prices halted to about 0.8 percent in the past year. This compares with last month's figure of 3.2%. A segmentation by districts showed the following annual price increases: Haifa (4.2%), North (3.7%), Jerusalem (1.2%) South (0.9%), Tel Aviv (0,8%), and Central (-1.6%)

Lower than forecasts: The Consumer Price Index (CPI) fell by 2023.0% in September 1 compared to August 2023, over the past 12 months (September 2023 vs. September 2022) the Consumer Price Index increased by 3.8%, the Central Bureau of Statistics announced on Sunday.

These figures are lower than analysts' expectations of an increase of 0.1% to 0.2% in September and 4.1% over the past year.

It was also reported that notable price declines were recorded in the following components: transportation, which declined by 1.5%, food and culture and entertainment, which declined by 0.5% each.

In contrast, there were notable price increases in fresh fruits and vegetables, which increased by 4.3 percent, educational services, which increased by 1.3 percent, rent, furniture and household equipment, clothing and footwear, and health, which increased by 0.5 percent each.

Continued decline in home prices

A comparison of the prices of transactions carried out in July–August 2023 with the prices of transactions carried out in June–July 2023 shows that home prices declined by 0.4 percent. A segmentation by districts showed the following price changes: Jerusalem (-0.3%), North (-1.1%), Haifa (-0.2%), Central (-1.5%), Tel Aviv (-0.6%), and South (-1.5%). New home prices declined by 0.6 percent.

The increase in home prices halted to about 0.8 percent in the past year: an annual comparison of the prices of transactions carried out in July–August 2023 with the prices of transactions carried out in July–August 2022 shows that the annual home price index increased by 0.8 percent. This compares with last month's figure of 3.2%.

A segmentation by districts showed the following annual price increases: Haifa (4.2%), North (3.7%), Jerusalem (1.2%), South (0.9%), Tel Aviv (0.8%), and Central (-1.6%). The annual index of new home prices declined by 2.1 percent.
