The feeling that accompanies me is guilt. When I get a meal, I think about my family and what they're going through in Gaza • Finally, I have one request from everyone reading this column: Let's stay united and cleanse ourselves of this toxic discourse, we have more important goals as a people

The headquarters established by the parents of the abductees does everything necessary in times that are difficult for all of us. On days when I have trouble even eating, they work with other organizations like Save our Kids to do everything possible to bring our children home and raise awareness around the world of our story over the past week.

The feeling that accompanies me personally, and I assume is shared by other families in our situation, is the feeling of guilt. When I hug my child, when I get a hot shower or a meal, I think about them there and what they've been through and are going through. It's been my typical feeling since this nightmare began.

I know that the desire to release the abductees is paramount, I also know that there are other goals, and one main goal is to topple the Hamas regime. I believe and hope that one goal is not more important than the other, but that things are interconnected.

In our WhatsApp group of the families of abductees and missing persons, there is a sad and regular ritual. Every once in a while, one of the participants in the group announces that unfortunately their loved one's body has been found. Then they abandon the group. This group is shrinking. They say that's how they feel at least certain. That they know something now that they didn't know before.

Finally, I have one request from everyone reading this column. Please, let's leave hatred and divisiveness out. Not on the left, not on the right. You don't know how important this unity is now. Please, leave these political demonstrations. Every teaspoon of such poison reaches us and is enough to cloud our atmosphere.

Please, this is not the time. Let's stay united and cleanse ourselves of this toxic discourse, we have more important goals as a people.
