School storm in Harish: An Arab-Israeli teacher from um al-Fahm spoke out strongly against the war in Gaza in a Zoom class with seventh graders. A complaint has been filed against the teacher with the police, and parents of students are demanding that he be fired immediately.
"As an Israeli Arab, how will my reaction be when I see that the state is proud of itself in the military campaign against Gaza, in the killing of women and children, what can I say?" he said, adding that "in 1948, a hundred thousand Palestinians were killed, so what do they expect? They've been knocking them since 48."
His remarks caused a storm among the students and their parents, the videos began to spread in various groups and reached the Ministry of Education.

One of the parents of the students in the class said: "A young teacher who was given a new class to teach seventh grade at the pleasant school in Harish spoke during a Zoom lesson with the students about the fighting in Gaza and the history of the Arabs in the wars since '48, his words conveyed understanding and empathy for the Palestinian side, and some of the students felt it difficult to contain it and documented parts of the Zoom with him and passed it on to their parents.
"They were horrified by the remarks and the implications for the children and filed a complaint with the police and demanded that the school administration immediately remove the educator from teaching in the classroom and fire him." The parents noted that the educator rejects the allegations and threatens legal action.
In response, the principal of the middle school said: "A video was published of a teacher from the school in the middle of a lesson in which he made harsh, insensitive and inappropriate statements to a teacher in the State of Israel. The matter was brought to the attention of all parties, including the Harish Municipality and the Ministry of Education. The district director is personally involved in the case and the teacher is handled on the disciplinary aspect. The teacher regrets what he said and will issue an apology to the students and parents of the class."
