The horrors in Gaza are unimaginable. Dozens of adults and children, the elderly and babies were mercilessly slaughtered in the green and peaceful kibbutz. And maybe that's why the reserve soldiers of the 5th Brigade were moved to tears when they saw their friend, her brother, watching the birth of his son live.

Her brother, a resident of Yakir, was called up like hundreds of thousands of others to reserve duty as part of Order Eight, and together with his friends reached the village of Gaza, where Hamas murderers went on a rampage and sowed death.

Already when he jumped, her brother knew that his wife was due to give birth at any moment. "Her date was October 4. It waited a bit," he smiles.

On Saturday night, her brother was unavailable, and in the early morning, when he opened his cellphone, he discovered many messages from his wife. "I wasn't available at night. At around 5:20 A.M., I opened the phone and saw all her messages. When I called, she had just received an epidural and after a few minutes she got back to me. We were on the video phone for about fifteen minutes and then she gave birth."

Baby's crying

In a video filmed by the battalion commander, her brother is seen in complete darkness in the destroyed and destroyed village of Gaza, watching the birth of his son. The baby's crying, just a week and a half after the horror that took place, heralded to the warriors a new life born out of the destruction. The video ran quickly among all the fighters of the battalion.

Her brother says he did not decide whether to go to the reserves, and his wife, Shira, supported him without hesitation. "We're not in a situation where we ask ourselves what can I help myself or my wife? We are where the people of Israel need to be. There is no other option. My wife understands that, she's a lioness, a superhero."

He says that the significance of the birth in the village of Gaza was very significant for him. "I was very excited about the birth. I've also been to the previous three births but this is the most exciting birth. Everything fills you, the situation, the longing. My friends were also very excited."

Since birth, the fighters moved to Kibbutz Be'eri, where many Israelis were also murdered. The birth of his son is also significant for him for the future, which holds the possibility of a ground incursion into the Gaza Strip. "We are ready for the continuation of the fighting – and we are making sure that the future here is secure. The people of Israel are alive."
