US President Asks Congress to Approve $105 Billion Aid Package Includes $10.6 Billion for Israel and $64.4 for Ukraine

The Biden administration is asking Congress to approve a $105 billion aid package, including aid to Israel and Ukraine, among other administration needs.

The aid package includes $10.6 billion for Israel and $64.4 for Ukraine, part of recent U.S. ongoing aid, and following repeated promises by the Biden administration to help Israel's war against Hamas. Among other things, the package also includes $9 billion in humanitarian aid to be divided between Israel, Gaza and Ukraine.

The aid package to Israel includes the supply of Iron Dome interceptors, air defense systems, ammunition, and a budget dedicated to securing the embassy in Israel.

U.S. National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said at a media briefing today that "the outcome of this confrontation for democracy and against tyranny and terrorism is essential to the safety and security of the American people." Sullivan's remarks echo President Biden's statement from his address to the nation in the early hours of the morning (Israel time) in which the United States will help allies, and that this is "a smart investment that will distribute dividends to American security for generations."

The aid package will be submitted to the House for approval, which has yet to elect a permanent speaker, while the Republican Party is still battling for a consensus candidate. Continued instability in the House of Representatives may affect the approval of the aid package and the transfer to Israel at the required time. Sullivan called for the aid package to be passed as soon as possible "to meet the national security needs of America and its partners."

Meanwhile, Senator Linzy Graham of South Carolina will lead a group of senators from both parties to visit Israel, who will hold a press conference in Tel Aviv on Sunday to express support for Israel's right to defend itself.
