Foreign Minister Eli Cohen will travel to the United States on Monday night to participate in the emergency session of the UN Security Council. The foreign minister's appearance at the council is an unusual event, but the discussion will take place in the presence of foreign ministers from around the world, and therefore Cohen will participate. He is expected to present some of the crimes against humanity committed by Hamas and oppose calls by the UN secretary-general and others for a ceasefire.

The minister will be accompanied by representatives of the families of abductees and will hold meetings and public events with them in order to raise international awareness of their intolerable situation and strengthen the call for the immediate release of all abductees held by terrorist organizations in the Gaza Strip.
At the same time, as part of the Ministry of Diaspora Affairs' delegations project in partnership with the Foreign Ministry, the delegation of the families of the abductees continued today with meetings in London, with an official visit to the British Parliament, in front of the parliamentary friendship group APPG - in an effort to free all the abductees held captive by Hamas in Gaza.

The families met with the leader of the House of Commons, senior MPs from all parties and the Lords, and shared their personal and painful stories.
"We stand here in the British Parliament and speak the language of human beings. Hamas does not speak this language: it speaks death and destruction," said David Bar, one of the survivors of the massacre at Kibbutz Alumim.
Israel's ambassador to London, Ms. Tzipi Hotovely, said: "We want our abductees alive, we want them intact, and we want it to happen as soon as possible. That's why we're standing here in front of you today."

Bob Blackman, chairman of the friendship group, summed up the discussion:
"We heard very moving things here. We have a responsibility to assist and be as active as possible to end this incident in the best possible way, as soon as possible."

Last night, a rally in support of Israel was held in central London, painted blue and white, attended by about 15,000 people. In inter-ministerial cooperation, official delegations of representatives of the families of the abductees and murdered are leaving this week for several countries around the world. Later this week, a delegation of families will leave for Italy, and later to the United States and other countries.
