Over the past few days, soldiers and officers of Unit 504 of the Intelligence Directorate have called on dozens of residents of the Gaza Strip to evacuate south for their own safety and that of their families.

Nevertheless, Hamas prevents them from evacuating southward, as was seen in the past, by erecting checkpoints set up by operatives of the terrorist organization, thereby placing the residents of the Gaza Strip as human shields.

On Thursday, the IDF released a recording, which was revealed for the first time in the world media, of a conversation that an officer in the unit had with a resident of Gaza, who detailed the actions Hamas was carrying out in its attempt to prevent residents from moving to the southern Gaza Strip.

In the conversation, the officer is heard asking the resident to "evacuate towards Khan Yunis urgently to maintain your security. I don't want you to put yourself at risk." The resident replies that all the roads are blocked, and when the officer asks him if Hamas blocked the road, he responds in the affirmative. "They blocked the road on the Saleh al-Din route, they're just bringing the people home."

When asked how exactly the terrorist group gets people back, he replied: "In the car, people go and they just bring them home, they shoot at people who want to leave."
