An unusual antisemitic incident in the United States: A man broke into the home of a Jewish family in the Studio City neighborhood of Los Angeles, confronted the tenant, undressed, and shouted antisemitic remarks at him.
The incident occurred around 5:30 a.m. local time, when the suspect began kicking in the back door of the residence. The owner, Mendel Meyers, heard the knocking and confronted the intruder, who entered his home. After a struggle of urgency, Myers managed to get the burglar man out into the backyard while his wife called the police.
The attacker shouted "Israel kills people," "Free Palestine," and "Brown people also count." Myers said he feared for his family's life. Police officers who arrived at the scene handcuffed and arrested the intruder, and he was filmed being put into a police car and continuing to shout "Free Palestine."
Police initially treated the incident as a burglary, but after the arrest it was classified as a hate crime. It is unclear if there was any previous acquaintance between Myers and the attacker and how the attacker knew he was coming to the home of a Jewish family.
