A construction train caught fire near Unterföhring at the weekend. Another arson attack like the recent one in Grünwald? The Criminal Investigation Department is investigating.
Unterföhring - A train caught fire near Unterföhring on Saturday night. It is still unclear whether this is another politically motivated arson attack like the one recently carried out in Grünwald and Mühldorf.
According to the police, a burning train in Unterföhring was reported to the police emergency call on Saturday, 28.10.2023, at around 2:40 a.m. Several patrols rushed to the scene, where they found that a construction train was on fire on a siding. The volunteer fire brigades from Unterföhring and Ismaning and the Munich professional fire brigade extinguished the fire under heavy breathing protection. At 3:11 a.m., it was "fire out." No one was injured.
Firefighters pump out hydraulic oil
Due to the hydraulic line with 2000 liters of hydraulic oil in the tank damaged by the fire, the fire brigade pumped the contents into a container provided for this purpose, according to the district fire inspectorate. For this purpose, the emergency services worked in protective suits under respiratory protection. THW laid tarpaulins under the train so that leaking hydraulic oil could be collected.
The volunteer fire brigades from Unterföhring, Ismaning, Ottobrunn, the Munich professional fire brigade, the district fire inspectorate of the district of Munich, the ABC train Munich Land, the technical advisor THW, the police, the rescue service and the water management office were in action. A total of about 100 emergency personnel were on site

Who made observations in the area of Moosstraße, Bahnweg, Mitterfeldallee and Neubruchstraße (Unterföhring) during the specified period that could be related to this incident? Persons who can provide relevant information are asked to contact the Munich Police Headquarters, Tel. 089/2910-0, or any other police station.
The railway line between Johanneskirchen and Ismaning had to be closed for the duration of the police measures. According to the police, there are currently no findings on the cause of the fire and the amount of damage. Further investigations have been taken over by the Munich Criminal Investigation Department.
Recently, there was an arson attack on geothermal power lines in Grünwald.
