Oberding – 17 firefighters from the district of Erding completed their training as breathing apparatus wearers. Among the graduates were two women and two 50- and 47-year-old firefighter career changers. According to a press release from the Erding District Fire Brigade Association, all participants were "exhausted, but on fire" at the end.

The 30-hour basic training course for breathing apparatus wearers took place centrally for all fire brigades in the district in Oberding and was carried out by the respiratory protection department of the respiratory protection training centre under the leadership of the specialist advisors Thomas Daschinger, Markus Angermaier and Matthias Hammerath. The trainers were supported by the Oberding and Aufkirchen fire brigades as well as the fire brigade service centre. District fire inspector Lorenz Huber, as commander of Oberding, provided the equipment shed as well as training locations.

The basic prerequisite for participation in this demanding course is physical fitness and health, which must be proven by means of a medical aptitude test. During the training, the course participants repeatedly demonstrated their fitness by sweating, especially in the "crawl distance", in the course of a state-defined stress exercise.

The aim of this basic respiratory protection course is to instruct the participants in the safe handling of the respiratory protective device and to prepare them for upcoming stresses. In a large final exercise, the future breathing apparatus wearers were able to demonstrate the knowledge they had acquired in searching smoky rooms and rescuing people.

The participants: Korbinian Glockshuber and Tobias Gräbe (FF Altenerding), Thomas Strobl (Berglern), Jörg Schulze (Eschlbach), Kilian Werner (Langenpreising), Thomas Miller (Lengdorf), Tobias Kaiser, Paul Weichert, Simon Hundt, Aaron Hundt and Markus Lanzinger (Oberding), Yannick Gerster (Reithofen-Harthofen), Sven Weisenbach (Taufkirchen), Max Bornmann and Nils Geck (Wartenberg) as well as Luisa Lang and Veronika Lintsche (Zustorf).
