Warehouses with fire engines burn down in Warin. The damage is high, the district administrator is shaken. However, the fire brigade association believes that fire protection in the region will continue to be secured.
Warin/Schwerin - The fire on the premises of the fire brigade technical headquarters of the district of Northwest Mecklenburg in Warin on Wednesday severely affected vehicles and technology stored there. District Administrator Tino Schomann (CDU) estimated the resulting property damage at about three million euros after an initial inventory. The biggest problem will be the replacement of the vehicles," said Schomann after getting an idea of the situation on site.
In the morning, according to the police, a fire broke out in a building complex with more than ten garages. Fire engines and civil protection vehicles were parked there, which are used in special emergencies or are subject to maintenance. According to the county, between 10 and 20 vehicles have been destroyed by the flames.
Several fire brigades from Warin and surrounding villages were involved in fighting the fire. Initially, there was no information on the cause of the fire. Investigations into this should begin in the course of the day.
According to state fire chief Hannes Müller, the destruction of fire engines represents a great and painful loss. However, since these were mainly reserve vehicles, the operational capability of the fire brigades in the region was still fully given. In addition, there is close coordination between the districts in fire protection. "If necessary, there is always help based on solidarity," Müller stressed. Dpa
