The German Interior Ministry categorically banned all Hamas activity, including political and cultural activity, in the country, in a special decree signed by Interior Minister Nancy Fazer.
"As far as Hamas is concerned, today we have clearly and completely banned any activity related to this terrorist organization, whose declared goal is the destruction of the State of Israel," the minister said in a statement to German media.
In addition, the activities of Samidoun, an association affiliated with the PFLP terrorist organization, were banned. Samidoun defines itself as a human rights organization and its activities include mainly political and voluntary activity. The PFLP is deeply linked to its various far-left movements throughout Europe.
Two years ago, an in-depth investigation by the International Legal Forum exposed Samidoun's connection to the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine. According to the findings of the investigation, Samidoun is in fact an arm of the international strategic alignment of the front, and constitutes an inseparable part of it.
For example, Khaled Barkat, director of Samidoun, is the head of the PFLP's international wing. Other PFLP operatives are also members. At a variety of events and demonstrations held by Samidoun, PFLP flags are raised. Samidoun disguises its connection to the PFLP, conceals important information about the identity of its employees and their positions, and publishes messages in English that are completely different from those written in Arabic.
