The IDF revealed on Thursday that an Iranian militia called the Imam Hussein Brigade has been operating in southern Lebanon in recent weeks. At the beginning of the war, we already reported that, according to Syrian sources, militia operatives made their way from Iraq through Syria and from there to Lebanon.
An announcement issued by the IDF Spokesperson's Office in Arabic, Lt. Col. Avichai Edrei, said: "After a series of Hezbollah failures in achieving an achievement against Israel in recent weeks, the Iranian Imam Hussein Brigade militia, led by a man codenamed Ji Al-Faqr, arrived in southern Lebanon. The militia was originally established in Syria to support the Iranian axis in recent years and Hezbollah." In a tweet on Ex, a former Twitter, Edri also attached a sketch of the militia commander.

According to the IDF Spokesperson's Office in Arabic, "The militia has already clashed with the IDF on the Lebanese border in recent weeks, and is participating in attacks against Israeli sovereignty. Hezbollah and Imam Hussein's militia are dragging Lebanon to pay a high price for Hamas-ISIS. The IDF is fully prepared to respond forcefully against anyone who tries to harm the sovereignty of the state in the north."
Last summer, media affiliated with the Iranian opposition revealed additional details about the Imam Hussein Brigade. According to reports, it is "the executive arm of the Iranian regime in Syria and has received huge budgets. The brigade is one of the units made up of members of different nationalities and was established by former Quds commander Qassem Soleimani in 2016. This militia was even called "Syrian Hezbollah."
