Two terrorists were arrested last month in the Shuafat refugee camp in east Jerusalem after planning to carry out a combined attack against Israeli security forces, according to a report released Thursday.

The two, young men in their 20s from the refugee camp, were arrested on suspicion of planning to carry out the attack, after conspiring with a terrorist organization. Jerusalem SWAT detectives, Jerusalem District sappers and Border Police soldiers, together with Shin Bet agents, raided the apartment of the two men about three weeks ago, and in a search they found various chemicals, receptacles, instructions for making IEDs, and various components that were suspected of being turned into explosive devices for carrying out the combined attack.

The interrogation of the two men by the Shin Bet and the Jerusalem District Court revealed that they had made contact with operatives of a terrorist organization in Judea and Samaria and, with their assistance, planned to carry out a combined shooting attack, pulling our forces to the scene and detonating explosive devices in an apartment in the refugee camp. To that end, they planned to purchase weapons and even managed to purchase various materials and components for making IEDs in the apartment where they were staying.

The terrorists were remanded in custody from time to time in court. Upon completion of their interrogation, a prosecutor's statement was filed against them last night and their detention was extended again for five days, until Sunday. The Jerusalem District Attorney's Office is expected to file an indictment against them in the coming days.
