The 17th casualty since the beginning of the ground operation: The IDF announced Thursday morning the fall of Lieutenant (res.) Yuval Zilber, a platoon commander in the 7007th Battalion of the Harel Brigade, in battle in the northern Gaza Strip.
Zilber, 25, from Ramat Gan, is a graduate of the city's Ohel Shem High School. During his regular service he was an officer in the Nahal Brigade. At the beginning of the war he was on the big trip, but reported to Order 8 as soon as he was called upon.

Carmel Shama Hacohen, Mayor of Ramat Gan, eulogized him: "How much loss, sorrow and pain can be absorbed? How many more families will hear the knocks of bereavement? Dear Yael and Itai, May you be the last parents to join the bereaved family. Dear Zilber family, we all share your grief. We have no words that will truly comfort and certainly not heal, but everything that humans can do and help in this situation is always done. The State of Israel and the city owe you forever for the endless and expensive price you paid and a commitment to commemorate your jubilee."
