Maj. Gil Fischitz from Harish, a tank driver in the 9th Battalion of the 401st Brigade, fell in battle in the northern Gaza Strip. Peshitz, 39, worked as an online point manager at Carrefour.
"I was his area manager, but we didn't have a manager-employee relationship, we were a family," says his friend Gil. "He was a person who always liked to smile, always positive. A man with the biggest heart that exists. He told me about the war. In the last message he sent me, he wrote: 'We went back a few kilometers to rest a bit, fill up with fuel and ammunition, and continue.' In the morning, one of the employees at the network sent me a message with the names of the fallen and I realized that he had been killed. He will be greatly missed."
The Harish Municipality issued a statement this morning, saying: "It is with great pain that we received the devastating news of the death of Harish resident, Maj. (res.) Gil Fishitz, a tank driver in the 9th Battalion of the 401st Brigade, who fell yesterday in battle in the northern Gaza Strip. The municipality will accompany his family and assist in everything possible. May his memory be blessed." Fischitz is survived by a father and brother.
