At the commemoration ceremony, Lt. Col. Salman Habka and Lt. Col. Alim Said, who fell in the war, said: "With a little will, it is possible to find a balanced wording that will give deep expression to the Druze community in the Nation-State Law. This will be the sign of the covenant – the amendment of the Nation-State Law. In this covenant there is one side that fills its part time after time with blood and sweat. And unfortunately, the other side, the sovereign did not know how to translate this covenant to the same extent."

Margi added: "Unfortunately, I say this as a member of the government and for over two decades as a member of Knesset, I have always felt a sense of discomfort and unfairness. The other side, which is the sovereign, did not know how to translate this covenant of life to the same extent. Whether it's housing, land and employment. And above all, we must say boldly – even in the Nation-State Law."
"Lt. Col. Salman Habka and Lt. Col. Alim Saad sacrificed their lives unconditionally, asking no questions. And the state must respond unconditionally not only with words, but with deeds!"
Yesterday, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu appealed to ministers and Knesset members and the head of the Druze community, Sheikh Mufaq Tarif, to amend the Nation-State Law. "This is the time to conduct soul-searching before the Druze community, its soldiers and fallen. A change in the state's agenda and priorities following the war must include a fundamental change in the relations between the Druze community and the state authorities. This is the time to change the Nation-State Law and correct the historical distortion regarding the status of the Druze community.

"The Druze community are the true patriots who were called to the flag and stood at the front according to a moral imperative, the heroic stories of the Druze martyrs and their will - faithful in life and death. This is the time to regulate residential construction in Druze communities and cancel all fines and orders issued against members of the community."
