Palestinian sources told Ma'an News Agency on Tuesday that Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh and other senior members of the terrorist organization had arrived in Turkey. The delegation will hold a meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
According to the report, Haniyeh's political trip was related to his recent visit to Iran, where he met with Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the supreme ruler of the Islamic Republic. In this context, he is supposed to continue discussing matters relating to the war in Gaza.
Moreover, the Palestinian news agency reported that Haniyeh had recently met with senior Iranian officials in Tehran, including security and political officials.
The meeting with Erdogan will come after his phone call with Haniyeh. In the same conversation, the two discussed developments in the Gaza Strip. The Lebanese channel Al-Jadid reported yesterday that in the coming days the Hamas leader is expected to visit Lebanon as well. Beirut is home to other senior members of the terrorist organization, such as Salah Arouri.
