Israel Hayom exposé: In 1989, Israel arrested the man who would later become the leader of Hamas in Gaza and one of the founders of the terrorist organization's military wing, Yahya Sinwar. 34 years later, Israel Hayom exposes for the first time the interrogations of Sanwar, who was arrested by the Shin Bet in Khan Yunis and convicted of murdering collaborators with Israel – most of them by strangling him with his hands. Today (Wednesday) we are publishing a sneak peek ahead of the full reveal that will be published tomorrow.

On October 15, 1989, Sanwar sat across from police investigator Superintendent Shlomo Eyal and decided to open everything. "I'm willing to tell you things I've never talked about," he said. "In 1986, Sheikh Ahmed Yassin and I decided to employ people to gather information about collaborators and anyone who opposes Islam." During the interrogation, Sinwar provided extensive details of the murders, all of which he committed himself.

In one case, which he told the interrogator extensively, Sinwar and his friends followed Rasmi Salim, a resident of Gaza, for four days because of information that he denies Islam and collaborates with Israel. "We grabbed him and put him in the car. He admitted that he was in contact with Israeli intelligence. We took him to the cemetery in Khan Yunis, tied his eyes with a rag so he wouldn't see, put him in a large grave I saw and strangled him with a keffiyeh I had. After strangling him, I wrapped him in a white cloth and closed the grave. I understood from Sami that he understood that he deserved to die."
