A prosecutor's statement was filed Wednesday morning against a 45-year-old man from Or Yehuda on suspicion of intentionally setting fire to a building last week in the yard of a residential building on Ayelet Hashachar Street in the city.
The incident occurred last Tuesday, when police received a report of a fire. Police officers on patrol arrived at the scene, located the suspect, arrested him – and transferred him for interrogation, at the end of which he was imprisoned. The suspect's detention has been extended from time to time.

As part of the arson investigation, during which findings and evidence were collected, it was suspected that the man deliberately set fire to a parasol that was in the yard of a ground floor apartment in the building, causing a rapid fire and heavy damage to 3 apartments. In addition, the police requested that he be remanded in custody until the end of the legal proceedings against him.
