Cinema scene on the edge of the A13 this Wednesday evening between Mantes-la-Jolie and Buchelay (Yvelines). A man was apprehended after a heated chase with police.
Officials were first called following a stolen vehicle in the Mantes-la-Jolie area shortly after 21 p.m. In circumstances that have yet to be determined, a chase ensued between the police officers of the Bac (anti-crime brigade) and the thief, who took all the risks to try to outrun his pursuers.
Officials shot at?
It was then that the two vehicles collided on the exit ramp of Mantes-la-Jolie, a few dozen meters from the Buchelay toll. According to several sources, the thief even fired several shots in the direction of the officials. But none of them were hit.
During the accident, a police officer was injured in the arm. His two colleagues were unharmed but appeared psychologically scarred. The car thief, whose age is not known, was arrested. He was taken into custody at the Mantes-la-Jolie police station. The accident and subsequent arrest disrupted traffic on the A13 towards Normandy as well as in the nearby commercial area. By 23 p.m., calm had returned to the area.
