The Tel Aviv municipality has decided to budget about NIS 50 million for the construction of protected spaces in municipal kindergartens that do not have a protected space, in order to enable the children to have a normal school routine – and without fear. Construction work is expected to begin next month and be completed in February 2024.

Until the completion of the work, these gardens will continue to operate from the alternative armored structures to which they were moved, as has been done so far since the beginning of the "Iron Swords" war.

At the same time, Givatayim Mayor Ran Connick appealed to Interior Minister Moshe Arbel to transfer NIS 10 million to the municipality in order to protect the city's educational institutions and public buildings. In a letter sent by Connick to the minister, he noted that unlike in other cities, parents in Givatayim cannot send their children to the various educational institutions, since they are protected – and therefore they are forced to stay at home with them, so the children do not study and the parents do not manage to work properly.

"Despite all our warnings and requests for help with protection over the years, gaps have once again emerged in this war that severely harm the daily routine of young parents, children in educational institutions, with an emphasis on kindergartens, the elderly in day clubs and more," Connick noted in his letter. According to him, the protection in question can be carried out in about a month and a half.

Connick added: "In the immediate term, we are required to place about 50 mobile safe rooms in kindergarten courtyards, each costing about NIS 200,10 – a total of NIS <> million."
