On Monday night, a 44-year-old woman spent a nightmarish night in Nantes. This receptionist of an Appart'City located near the Cité des Congrès had been rescued at dawn by firefighters after being violently attacked by an individual pretending to be a customer. She had filed a complaint of rape and forcible confinement and her attacker was being actively sought.
Already convicted three times
On Wednesday evening, a 22-year-old man was arrested in Paris thanks to investigations by Nantes police investigators. In police custody, the defendant admitted to robbery with a weapon (a stick) but not rape. Residing in Nantes, this young man had already been convicted three times for "acts of violence, threats, damage and burglary", said this Friday evening the public prosecutor of Nantes, Renaud Gaudeul.
The suspect was presented to the Nantes prosecutor's office earlier in the day. After being heard by an investigating magistrate, he was indicted "on charges in particular of robbery and rape with a weapon, in this case a stick". He was then remanded in custody after being brought before the liberty and detention judge.
