A 26-year-old man was brought before the public prosecutor's office and imprisoned on Monday 6 November after being arrested for the rape of a minor three days earlier in La Roche-sur-Yon (Vendée). According to information from Ouest France, verified by Le Figaro, this 13-year-old girl, placed in a home, told her educators to have been raped in the night, at the suspect's home, after spending an evening with a friend.

In police custody the next day, this refugee of Djiboutian nationality, in a legal situation, denied the facts. He was already known to the court for a similar act. He was indicted and remanded in custody in Fontenay-le-Comte.

Second indictment

According to Ouest France, this indictment is the second for rape in two years. The young man had been released from prison a few months ago and had not yet been tried for this previous offence. With no activity, no resources and no housing, he knew the victim: "I regret what happened, it's unclear," he said, according to the regional daily. The magistrate reportedly told him that "testimonies and forensic examinations make it plausible that this offence was committed".

"We don't want any more immigration that breaks, loots, rapes, burns, traffics drugs, cars, weapons... I urge the political decision-makers of the Vendée to quickly take into account the distress and fear of their people!" reacted the president of the patriotic association Le Rassemblement Vendéen, Éric Mauvoisin-Delavaud, who had organised a rally on 5 November against the arrival of migrants in the Vendée commune of Saint-Jean-de-Monts as part of the cold weather plan.
