A 47-year-old man from Paraguay, whose identity was not disclosed, was arrested on Wednesday after he allegedly planned to carry out a shooting attack at a local synagogue and planned to attack members of the Jewish community.

According to Argentine news agency AJN, the suspect was arrested in a raid by Paraguayan authorities on his home in Asuncion state. Prosecutor Ruth Benitez, who led the operation along with agents from the Paraguayan police's cybercrime division, noted that the suspect was a member of a forum of anti-Jewish posts on the 4Chan website and even wrote on the forum: "Damn it, I'm going to shoot at my local synagogue."

According to Fast Company, the number of hate messages against Jews and Muslims has increased fivefold on 4Chan, a site known for its national-hatred forums, since the beginning of the war in Gaza. In the past, terrorist attacks were carried out after a threatening message appeared on this website first.

Earlier this week, a woman crashed into a building in Indianapolis, thinking it was an "Israeli school." The suspect, Ruba al-Mahta, 34, who identifies herself as Palestinian, told police at the time of her arrest that she "wishes she could have done more for her country and her people," and called for "freedom for Palestine."

The woman said she watched the news day and night and saw the reports of the war and wanted to "get her anger out," and also admitted to crashing into the building deliberately. Only after committing an offense did it become clear that the structure was in fact affiliated with the "Hebrew Israelis" group, a group defined by the Anti-Defamation League as an extremist and anti-Semitic organization, with no connection to Judaism or Israel.
