The operation in the village of Vieritz in the municipality of Milower Land is still going on after about 21 hours. Residents have been urged not to leave their homes.
Brandenburg an der Havel - After an armed man with a child shot at the police from a residential building in Brandenburg, a person has been arrested. This was said by the spokeswoman of the West Police Department, Kerstin Schröder, to the German Press Agency. The person had been in the house, according to the spokeswoman, there is another person in the building.
The operation in the village of Vieritz in the municipality of Milower Land is still ongoing after about 21 hours. Pictures showed dozens of rescue workers and numerous police cars. An armored vehicle was also on site.
Emergency services arrived on Friday at 13:45 p.m. in Vieritz, the small town is located about 20 kilometers northwest of Brandenburg an der Havel. Because of the presumed endangerment of the child's welfare, special units of the police had also moved to the scene. According to the information, there had been a decision of the district court, suggested by the Youth Welfare Office. The exact background of the incident was initially unclear. A spokesman for the police also did not want to give details of the armed person in the morning.

The main street of the small village and the residential area in which the building is located is largely cordoned off. Residents were urged not to leave their homes. Residents who wanted to enter the area from outside were turned away and asked to look for other accommodation or places to stay, as the police needed "room for manoeuvre". Dpa
