Many condolences arrived today (Monday) at the home of the Shoham family in Rosh HaAyin after learning of their son Itai's fall in battle in the Gaza Strip. Itai is survived by his parents Nina and Shahar, his sister Roni and his brothers Omri and Yonatan. He will be buried today in the military section of the cemetery in his city. Residents of the city will accompany him with Israeli flags along the streets leading to the cemetery.
Raz Sagi, the mayoral candidate, said: "My heart broke again last night, when I heard about the fall of Staff Sergeant Itai Shoham, a native of the neighborhood and the city. Participates in the deep mourning of the family, which lost their son yesterday in battle in the northern Gaza Strip. Itai was a soldier in the Egoz unit in the commando brigade. I, too, will accompany him on his last journey with the Israeli flag along Zionist Boulevard, to the cemetery in Rosh HaAyin. I know there is no consolation in my words and I just hope they give their family more strength to overcome this terrible pain."
City Council member Hanoch Oz said: "A sad morning for the residents of Rosh HaAyin and for Israel. Today at 15:00 P.M., Itai's funeral will take place. We will accompany him on his last journey with Israeli flags along Zionist Boulevard to the cemetery in Rosh HaAyin. May his memory be blessed."
