The new hospitalization tower in downtown Jerusalem is underway: At a meeting held last week in the office of Minister of Construction and Housing Yitzhak Goldknopf, with the participation of Jerusalem Mayor Moshe Leon, Israel Land Authority Director Yanky Quint, and Shaare Zedek Medical Center Director General Prof. Ofer Merin, it was decided to establish a joint team to quickly advance the planning of a new hospitalization tower at Shaare Zedek Medical Center.

At the meeting, it was agreed that the project promotion team, which would include senior officials from all the entities involved, would be established within a month in order to carry out a rapid planning process of the new hospitalization tower adjacent to the existing building of Shaare Zedek Medical Center, in an area that was the Beitar Jerusalem team's training ground.

Goldknopf: "The number of residents in Jerusalem has increased significantly, and we must also provide a response to the infrastructure aspects of the residents' health needs. The war taught us about the importance of armored medical structures and the need for a helipad that can allow the wounded to fly quickly and save lives."

Director General of Shaare Zedek Medical Center, Prof. Ofer Merin: "The construction of the hospitalization tower is critical so that we can provide a solution for the residents of the entire Greater Jerusalem area in the coming years, and continue to develop the medical excellence and humane and dedicated care that have characterized Shaare Zedek for 122 years."
