For the first time in the IDF's history: Two candidates for the security service passed the screening for Unit 669 in recent days and are expected to enlist this December, upon completion of the screening procedures, which include, among other things, security clearance and medical examination. The two will be the first to begin the course of about a year and eight months in the unit, and if they succeed in it, they will be certified as combatants in the unit.

Last week, a class of female fighters was recruited to the IDF in the shadow of the war, in which female fighters participate in many combat formations. About 12% of all women recruited for combat roles are NCOs who have sought to enlist in combat positions since the beginning of the war. In addition, all combat professions in this recruitment are in demand exceeding 100%.

About a year ago, former IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Aviv Kochavi decided on a pilot program for women's service in the Yahalam and 669 special units. "I see the pilot as a great privilege. The mission is to save lives, you need special people to do it. Whoever withstands this, I would love to have a fighter in the unit. I'm sure it's realistic."
