Kibbutz Be'eri announced Thursday that Dror Kaplun, who was kidnapped in Gaza, was murdered in Hamas' brutal attack on the kibbutz on October 7. His wife, Dr. Marcelle Freilich Kaplun, was also murdered in the massacre.
"It is with great sorrow and a broken heart that we announce the passing of Dror Kaplun, who was murdered in the brutal attack on Kibbutz Be'eri on Saturday, October 7, 10," the kibbutz said in a statement.

Dror's girlfriend was taken with him to Gaza, but her body was found about a week later. Marcel's brother recounted the moments of the abduction when he wrote in her memory: "My sister Dr. Marcel Freilich Kaplun, together with her husband Dror Kaplun from Kibbutz Be'eri, were kidnapped from their home barefoot, bound and frightened by despicable murderers."
The community of Kibbutz Be'eri numbered about 1,200 members before Black Sabbath, when it suffered one of the blows to humanity in the terrorist attack when 85 of its members were murdered.
