Major Roman Bornstein fell in battle at the IED scene in Khan Yunis, the mayor of Bat Yam eulogized him: "His eldest son showed me pictures and told me that he got to celebrate his bar mitzvah just two weeks ago on the Gaza border, together with his father Roman and his fellow fighters" Vital Sweet, his unit mate, said painfully: "You were a 'super-soldier' at 20 just like you fell a 'superhero' at 46."

In the fighting in the southern Gaza Strip last night, three reservists fell at the IED scene in Khan Yunis, all three from the 8111th Battalion of the 5th Brigade. One of them is Maj. (res.) Roman Bronstein, 46, from Bat Yam, a training officer in the battalion, but with three children.

Bat Yam Mayor Zvika Barut eulogized him: "It is with great sorrow that we update on the bitter news of the fall of another hero of my life, Major (Res.) Roman Bronstein. The city of Bat Yam embraces his wife, three children and all members of the Bronstein family. Last night at the family home, his eldest son showed me pictures and told me that he had just celebrated his Bar Mitzvah two weeks ago on the Gaza border, together with his father Roman and his fellow fighters. Now he wanted to say the Kaddish on his father's grave, together with the military rabbi who accompanied them at the bar mitzvah. City teams are accompanying and will continue to accompany the family throughout the process."

Vital Sweet, his close friend who accompanied him for 26 years of acquaintance, painfully eulogized him: "Roman, brother, I can't digest. 26 years together, what haven't we gone through together?. From the regular, acting commander in the Sabra Battalion, through the permanent service, and up to 22 years together in the reserves. In Lebanon, at the Rotem outpost, I always knew that there was someone to rely on to rescue me from ambushes and opening roads. We survived gunfire and mortar shells more than once, I was calm when you were with me in the force. Super warrior, eternal poisoned. At shooting ranges, when an entire company was shooting, you would come to the Magist, replace him with gunfire, and only from hearing the mag play did I know it was you pulling the trigger."

"When I arrived at the reserve battalion a little after you, again, I knew that this was where I was safe. Today, the 5th Brigade lost a soldier from the Nephilim Generation, a veteran of the battalion. Your laughter still echoes in my head. Who sat with us now in Dixie every quarter, at the fixed table, with the set dishes and a glass of beer in hand? Roman, dear and beloved brother, I have no doubt that there is no one in the world who would stop you from entering the Gaza Strip and fighting. You were a "super soldier" at 20 just like you fell into a "superhero" at 46. Hero, may your memory be blessed."
