Two weeks after he was mortally wounded in battle in the Gaza Strip, today (Monday) it was cleared for publication that a Magellan fighter in the reserves, Sgt. Zvika Levy (Lavi), died of his wounds. Lavi, a resident of Ali, was married to Talia and they have three children: Shaked, Amitai and Aviv.
The Mount Hebron Regional Council and Carmel Regional Council said: "It is with great pain and sorrow that the Council announces the passing of Sgt. Zvika Levy, son of Moshe and Mimi Levy, residents of Carmel. After struggling with his serious injury during the fighting in Gaza. We share in the deep sorrow of the family, his wife Talia and his children and brothers. Details of the funeral will be announced soon."
Yochai Damri, head of the Mount Hebron Council, eulogized: "The residents of Mount Hebron, the council's employees, directors, members of the plenum and its head share in the heavy sorrow of the Levy family, one of the founders of the settlement of Carmel, over the death of Zvika. Zvika, the son of Moshe and Mimi, a reserve soldier, was seriously wounded two weeks ago in a heroic battle in Gaza. After a long battle with a very serious injury, tonight on the fifth candle of Hanukkah, he said goodbye to us."
Damari added: "Zvika is the father of three small children - Shaked, Amitai and Aviv. He is married to Talia and together they live in Ali. He was in the midst of studying for a master's degree in social work combined with work in the field. He was connected to Torah, to action. He was always the first to help and act. At this moment, we embrace the Levy family and the members of Moshav Carmel."
The Binyamin Regional Council said it shares in the Lavi family's deep sorrow over Zvika's fall in battle to defend the state. Council head Yisrael Gantz also eulogized:
"Zvika is a priceless man, another jewel that fell on the holiness of God and the land, one of Benjamin's best sons. He joins the saints and heroes who left home and family and gave themselves up for the sanctification of God in this war. We share in the terrible sorrow of the family, and pray that the Almighty will send them relief and comfort and heal their pain."
