It's unanimously accepted! In winter, customers love it for its simplicity of tone and discreet fantasy. As the name suggests, Donegal tweed originated in Northern Ireland. It has the same history as its cousin the Harris tweed. Both were woven for centuries on farms and used locally in these humid and windy environments. It was in the nineteenth century, thanks to a growing interest in the Arts & Craft movement in the Anglo-Saxon world, that they went beyond the borders. The fabric of County Donegal enjoyed the patronage of a London 'socialite', Alice Rowland Hart, who in 1883 set up the Donegal Industrial Fund to ensure its wider dissemination and greater revenues for rural communities.
