Precisely in the shadow of the Iron Sword War, when we are witnessing more and more manifestations of anti-Semitism around the world, the popular sandwich cookie company launches a new product inspired by Tufin with Jewish roots • The pastry even got a few moments of glory in an episode of "Seinfeld" • Oreo emphasizes that it is a very limited edition

Every year, Oreo launches several special and limited editions of the well-known sandwich cookies. These are usually various chocolatey, caramel, buttery or "botanical" variations. Sometimes they play on the ratio between cream and biscuit, sometimes it's actually collaborations for the release of new films, and we've already had spinoffs like cafes or even wine that goes great alongside the mythological cookie.

This time, however, Oreo managed to surprise us more than usual with a new flavor that will be launched in the US by the time stocks run out on January 1st. Believe it or not, the flavor that comes out in the shadow of an iron sword war and rising manifestations of anti-Semitism around the world pays homage to a well-known American dessert with Jewish roots.

Meet the Black and White cookie, a flat, round drum like a full moon coated, half-and-half and equal, in two cream flavors: vanilla and chocolate. These cookies can be found in the United States, especially in New York, Florida, and other areas with a large Jewish community.

Indeed, the invention of the cookie is attributed to the iconic Glaser's Bake Shop in Manhattan, which unfortunately closed a few years ago after more than a century of operation. The black-and-white cookie gained popularity in Jewish immigrant neighborhoods in the United States in the last century, and to this day it is lovingly baked in quite a few bakeries and delis (one of them is the famous Canter's in Los Angeles).

The famous cookie even got a few moments of fame in an episode of "Seinfeld." Now, as mentioned, Oreo is picking up the gauntlet and giving it the ultimate honor: a special "black and white" edition, in which each unit boasts a filling of half chocolate cream and half vanilla cream, placed in an exemplary balance between two golden biscuits (unlike the usual Oreo chocolate biscuit).

The company emphasizes that this is a very limited edition and the tempting exposure post on Instagram has already garnered quite a few likes. So if Oreo is already practicing for dessert with a distinctly Jewish connection, here are a few more suggestions of ours: sluggish Oreo-Rogelach, greasy Oreo Spinge and triple Oreo filled with poppy or date flavored cream, just like this for Purim. What, won't you try?
