The Finance Committee, headed by MK Moshe Gafni (Torah Judaism), approved today (Monday) the cancellation of the salary revision for various officers in 2024.

This applies to the salaries of ministers and deputy ministers, the President of the State, and judicial officers, while even with regard to the salary revision in 2025, the cancelled salary increase will not be taken into account.
The savings to the state coffers for canceling the increase for these officers and for Knesset members whose decision was made by the Knesset Committee last week is about NIS 52 million for 2024. Their wages were expected to rise on January 1, 2024, based on the rate of increase in the average wage in the economy.
Earlier, the Finance Committee held a discussion on freezing the salaries of members of the government, the President of the State and judicial officers, following the recommendations of the Albashan Committee, following a request by the committee's coalition coordinator, MK Eliyahu Revivo (Likud). "The State of Israel is at war," Revivo said, "and the government must set a personal example. The time has come for us to understand that we are here to streamline distorted processes."
"Like the members of Knesset," Revivo added, "we must put the government under the stretcher and freeze the salaries of judicial officers, members of the government and the president of the state for 2024. I want to be clear: This is not a freeze so that next year their wages will increase twice, this is about canceling the wage increase."
