An indictment was filed Thursday against a 16-year-old minor after he stole four vehicles in different locations in Israel over the course of two weeks. The Jerusalem Prosecution Unit filed a detailed indictment for four cases of vehicle theft, along with a request to order his continued detention until the end of the proceedings against him.

The minor was arrested on December 12 as part of an activity in the Jerusalem District against property offenses. After noticing a car stolen from the Malha neighborhood, they arrested him. It turned out that he was 16 years old, an illegal alien from Judea and Samaria, who had never issued a driver's license.

During the defendant's interrogation, it emerged that he was behind a number of vehicle thefts that took place throughout the country during the two weeks preceding his arrest. The interrogators were shocked to discover that the defendant sometimes committed his actions day after day, and sometimes even managed twice in the same day.

According to the indictment, on the evening of December 8, the defendant arrived in the city of Ramle, where he located a vehicle whose owner had parked there before the Sabbath began. When he returned to his car at the end of Shabbat, he discovered to his astonishment that his car had been stolen and subsequently filed a complaint at the police station. Later it turned out that on the same day, in the early hours of the morning, the defendant stole another vehicle from the Gush Dan area.

The next day, December 9, the defendant went to the nearby city of Lod and stole a car belonging to a resident of the city who had come from the reserve service to rest at home for the weekend. In his testimony, the owner of the car told police investigators that on Saturday, when he returned from the synagogue, he noticed that his vehicle was still parked, but when he returned on Sunday morning to drive, he realized that his car had been stolen.

The investigation also revealed that on December 11, the defendant went to Petah Tikva, from where he stole a vehicle that, as was done with the previous vehicles stolen by him, was transferred to Judea and Samaria. The same was true on December 12, when he was caught. He arrived in Jerusalem and stole a car after smashing his rear window and was arrested as part of the activity of detectives from the Beit Shemesh station. After his arrest, he was taken for interrogation, and the vehicle stolen that time was returned to its owner.

Police investigator at the Beit Shemesh police station, Sgt. Shlomo Kinda, who led the defendant's investigation, said: "During the defendant's interrogations, a picture of the situation and extensive evidence emerged, indicating that despite his young age, he was a serial car thief who was not deterred at all by the act, its severity and the damage to the citizen's property, but most of all, did not shy away from the law. The defendant is an illegal alien who enters the State of Israel and drives a motor vehicle even though he has never issued a driver's license for this purpose, commits criminal offenses alongside traffic, all in complete contravention of the law. After evidence was gathered in the investigation files, the police prosecution unit in Jerusalem filed an indictment against him. We will continue to fight everything related to harm to the safety and property of the public, locating suspects in these acts and interrogating them in order to bring these offenders to justice."
